About Me

Storyteller at Heart

I'll never forget the day it dawned on me that I could write my own book. Anything I wanted to say, I could say. Any story I wanted to tell, I could tell. No restrictions. No limits. It was like learning to fly. Ever since that day, I've developed a passion for Teen/YA fiction. I want to write books filled with adventure, hope, and humor that teens can enjoy and that their parents don't have to pre-read. All my books are free of language, sex, and adult content.

When I'm not writing, I'm reading, hiking, or spending time with my family. I live in a very old house in Maryland with my husband, children, and a couple struggling plants.

Four hundred years ago, the lights went out. The snow buried the nuclear desert. All the flowers died. One day, winter began...and it never ended.

Jael Jannigan lives during the primitive second ice age. Rejected by her parents because of a rare skin condition, Jael seeks acceptance among the Klifrari -- a rugged clan of mountain people who know the secrets to surviving the endless winters. Desperate to prove herself, Jael ventures into a blizzard where she meets Luca -- a lost Blockade Runner carrying an ancient book of forbidden music.

On the dying planet Gravarus, the assassination plot against the queen has failed, and the queen finds herself without an heir. Convinced that an ancient book of human music could save their race, she sends her disgraced sons Aresis and Obsidian to find it. Whichever prince returns the book to Gravarus will win the right to the throne.

Forced together by something stronger than fate, Obsidian, Jael, and Luca team up to keep the book from falling into Aresis' cruel hands. As they race across a snow-swept tundra on an old iron steam train, the three companions must overcome their differences and discover the secrets in the ancient music if they hope to save themselves and, perhaps, all of humanity.

Random Man

Randy Regal has a very unique problem. Every year on his birthday, Randy wakes up with a new superpower. To date, he’s got seventeen, and he hasn’t figured out how to control a single one. He catches people’s hair and clothing on fire, magnetically rips school lockers off the walls, and occasionally freezes to his chair. At the Academy for Super Police where he and his brother Alex are training to be Super Cops, people avoid Randy like he’s going to blow them up – which he might.
When one of Randy’s superpowers ambushes him at the worst possible time and causes a terrible accident, Randy is expelled from the Academy and humiliated. Desperate, Randy enrolls in the Western Academy for Super Police – a dusty, underfunded government school for Academy dropouts. Buried deep in the hidden canyon town of Heliotrope and with only five misfit students, a handful of bedraggled teachers, and a dormitory with a chemical lab in the bathroom, WASP is a weird, outcast place that introduces Randy to something he never knew existed – people like him. But as he struggles to open up to his new friends and control his wayward powers, Randy is haunted by Typhon, a dragon-like villain who threatens Randy’s friends, his new school, and his life. Can Randy uncover Typhon’s master plan, keep seventeen superpowers from burning down the school, get a date with his crush, and pass superhero ethics in one explosive school year? He’s not sure he can.

"It all began on the last day before final exams. It was a normal morning in the Regal apartment. I woke up late, burned my bagel, sneezed and caught a kitchen cabinet on fire and accidentally tore the refrigerator off the wall. Nothing out of the ordinary."
